Efficient Polygon Approximations for Shape Signatures
This paper presents a novel algorithm for polygon approximation which is eecient in the sense of rate-distortion quality and computation time. Special attention is hereby given to generate polygons with a low number of nodes, which are suitable as shape signatures in image retrieval from multimedia databases.
متن کاملMinimum cost polygon overlay with rectangular shape stock panels
Minimum Cost Polygon Overlay (MCPO) is a unique two-dimensional optimization problem that involves the task of covering a polygon shaped area with a series of rectangular shaped panels. This has a number of applications in the construction industry. This work examines the MCPO problem in order to construct a model that captures essential parameters of the problem to be solved automatically usin...
متن کاملPredictive Shape Coding Using Generic Polygon Approximation
We introduce an e cient predictive binary shape coding method that consists of (1) global motion estimation, (2) local motion estimation, (3) matched segment coding, and (4) residual segment coding. Global and local motion estimation use contour pel matching and knowledge of previously reconstructed contours. After motion compensation, we code the one-dimensional reference contour indices of th...
متن کاملComparison of Engineering Geology Properties Natural Granite with Artificial Types
Understanding of the geological characteristics of artificial stone is of particular importance. Appearance, size and dimensions, specification of particle surface and minerals forming aggregates are among the characteristics of rock materials that affect the homogeneous and cladding environment. Volume variations, water absorption, resistance to atmospheric agents and wear resistance are the m...
متن کاملA Parametric Active Polygon for Leaf Segmentation and Shape Estimation
In this paper we present a system for tree leaf segmentation in natural images that combines a first, unrefined segmentation step, with an estimation of descriptors depicting the general shape of a simple leaf. It is based on a light polygonal model, built to represent most of the leaf shapes, that will be deformed to fit the leaf in the image. Avoiding some classic obstacles of active contour ...
